April 10th Branch Program and Meeting

Join us Tuesday EVENING, April 10th, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. for our Branch Program and Meeting!

Dr. Mary Wingerd, author of “North Country: The Making of Minnesota”

Here’s a chance for you members of the branch lit group who have read North Country to meet its author. Dr. Wingerd, historian and storyteller, is an associate professor of history at SCSU. She has generously agreed to speak to us between her teaching and busy state and national speaking dates.  The book “describes nearly two centuries of cooperation, accommodation and peace among disparate peoples.” Jess Woods wrote that Wingerd’s book “is a more balanced viewpoint and a critique of Indian stereotypes.” Dr. Wingerd invites you to bring your books for autographing and will answer questions from the group.

Meetings are held at the Ace Café, St. Cloud.

90th Birthday Service Projects

St. Cloud Area Branch of AAUW is celebrating its 90th birthday starting in February of 2012. As part of the commemoration of our history, we are revisiting some of the past service projects that we have done with a series of one-shot mini service projects through this next year. Members are welcome to participate in all or some of the projects. These service projects will remind us and former members of the wonderful contributions AAUW has made to the community.

Please contact the monthly coordinator with any questions about the project. We sincerely hope that you will participate.
