St. Cloud Area Board Minutes Feb. 17, 2011

  1. Pres. Amy called to order at 6:36 p.m. Since there were only 5 members attending the meeting, the Board convene as an executive committee in order to conduct business. Present were Joyce Wittenhagen, Amy Dinkel -VanValkenburg, Lora Robinson, Marcia Summers, and Fran Hill-Rowen.
  2. Minutes from Jan board meeting. Robinson moved, Hill-Rowen seconded accepted as corrected. Motion carried
  3. Call for additional agenda items-June Goemer named grant issue and Pay Equity Award..
  4. Report from Mary Lou Lenz, social, was read.
  5. Hill-Rowen moved, Summers seconded that we instruct the treasurer to send $200 for the High School Art Show for the Ellingson Award to the Visual Arts of Minnesota at the Paramount. Carried.
  6. Pres. Amy inquired about the Mission in Motion for the State Convention. Hill-Rowen had submitted one 2 years ago. She will get a copy to the President. Robinson moved, Summers seconded that we not participate this year due to the due date.
  7. The nominating committee for the new officers will be Janet Lore, Jan Davis, Bobbie Lampi and the President.
  8. Robinson moved, Hill-Rowen seconded to accept the treasurer’s report. Carried.
  9. Robinson moved, Hill-Rowen seconded adoption of the proposed 11-12 budget to be presented at the March business meeting. The budget is based on 60 members with no dues increase .It was suggested to add a line item for our 90th birthday event. Discussion was held about the money under Foundation. Should it be more realistic to what we actually sent to the National AAUW?
  10. March business agenda was presented:
    1. By Laws revisions
    2. Election of President-Elect, Program VP, and Corresponding Secretary
    3. 2011-12 Proposed Budget
    4. Appointment of State Convention Delegates
    5. Appointment of National Convention Delegates
    6. Branch Resolution to State Convention
  11. Robinson moved, Summers seconded to keep local dues the same for 11-12. Motion carried.
  12. Wittenhagen moved, Hill-Rowen seconded that we pay the National Convention Delegates up to $450 with a maximum of $900. If more delegates attend, the total amount will be divided. . Discussion included that if it is important to have members attend, we should bear some of the expense with the understanding that the member would accept future leadership with our branch. Motion carried.
  13. Robinson moved, Hill-Rowen seconded to reimburse $50 to local delegates who attend the State Convention. Morin carried.
  14. Explanation was made about the resolution that Amy will present at the State Convention about having a biannual MN State Convention.
  15. Old business was carried over due to the late hour.
  16. Meeting adjourned at 8:46 p.m
