St. Cloud Area AAUW Annual Business Meeting Minutes March 8, 2011

1. Pres. Amy Dinkel- Van Valkenburg called the meeting to order.
2. Appointment of Delegates to the State Convention: Janet Lore, Thomas Dinkel, and Pres Amy plan to attend. We are allowed up to four delegates, so we have one vacancy. Rethmeier moved, Williams seconded to accept the nominated delegates. If another delegate goes, we will pay a $50 stipend for her. Motion carried. Joanna Pucell is attending as a University delegate.
3. Delegates to the National Convention: Denna O’Connell and Pres. Amy have registered. Stipends will be paid as per minutes of Feb. board meeting.
4. Point of information: Robinson described the history our proposed resolution at the State Convention regarding a biannual state convention. It would takes only 51% of votes at the convention to be approved. The resolution would then go to a committee next year to consider it at the 2012 state convention.
5. Revision of bylaws: Robinson and Hill-Rowen presented the proposed revisions and additions. They are mainly better wording parallel to State and National By Laws, and more accurately reflecting what we actually do in our branch. Robinson moved acceptance, Summers, seconded. After discussion of Section 4 (page 4) Article V, a friendly amendment was accepted adding “that the local membership only be a maximum of two years”. Motion carried.
6. Elections: Pres. Elect-Jan Bensen, Program VP-Fran Hill-Rowen, Corresponding secretary-Mary Anne Savage. There were no other nominations from the floor. Williams moved, Bisek seconded to accept the slate. Motion carried.
7. 2011-12 Proposed Budget: Robinson moved, Hill-Rowen seconded to accept as printed. Motion carried.
8. Pres. Amy called for donations for the silent auction at the state convention.
9. Meeting adjourned.
