Minutes of St. Cloud Branch Executive Committee Meeting
Date: April 20, 2011
Location: St. Cloud Library – Array Room
Presiding Officer: President Amy Dinkel-VanValkenburg called the meeting to order at 6:07 PM.
Members Present: President Dinkel-VanValkenburg, Treasurer Robinson, Secretary O’Connell, Diversity Chair White-Levilain, Social Co-Chair Lenz, 90th Anniversary Chair Lore, other members Cindy Leigh, Molly Renslow and Joyce Wittenhagen.
Minutes of March 16, 2011: A motion was made by Robinson to approve the minutes as written; it was seconded by Wittenhagen and passed.
Old Business: None addressed
New Business
• Treasurer’s Report – Lora Robinson presented the treasurer’s report. Motion to pass from Robinson, seconded by Rotto, motion passed.
• Robinson suggested putting ads in the local paper three times a year for the Pay Equity Award until someone was nominated and then no more ads were to be run. Robinson will track out of Administration budget. If the costs go over the budget appropriated, the board will be readdressed. A motion to pass was made by O’Connell and seconded by Robinson. The motion was passed.
• Robinson moved to send leftover funds to Legal Advocacy Funds account. After discussion it was seconded by Lenz and passed.
• Dinkel-VanValkenburg motioned to have Jan Benson added to state convention delegates. It was seconded by Robinson and passed.
• Membership Chair Williams – Membership is continuing to collect checks and will make a big push for people to write their check by May’s meeting. Then a drawing will be made from checks collected and the lucky winner will receive their local dues back. There have been three new members for next year already – Karen Linnell, Hanni Epp, and Mary T. Howard.
• Fundraisers
➢ LAF Book Sale – Cindy Leigh advised to bring 5 books to sell and buy 5 books at $2 each for a total of $10 at the May branch meeting .
➢ Brat Sale – Fran Hill-Rowen reported we were awarded a time slot at Cashwise West on Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6th. Denna O’Connell agreed to head the sale.
➢ Scentsy – It was proposed by Amy Dinkel-VanValkenburg that we sell Scentsy products as a way to help fund the 90th Birthday celebration. The motion was made by Janet Lore, seconded by Cindy Leigh and was passed.
➢ Pancake Breakfast fundraiser for St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra was reported on by Cindy Leigh. It will be May 1st 8-10 AM at Applebees and it is $5 per person.
➢ AAUW Golf Tournament – O’Connell reported that the golf tournament will take place at Oak Hill Golf Course on Monday, July 11. Flyers and other information was given out to members.
• The Board meeting was adjourned at 7:19 PM.
Next Board Meeting Date: The next Board Meeting is June 8th from 5-8 PM. It will be a pot luck in the Mississippi Room.
